- The Communicate Album took 4 months to record.
- Recording began at York Street Studios in Auckland, and was
completed at Church Studios in London. Church Studios is owned
by Dave Stuart of the Eurythmics - Radiohead, Travis, Coldplay,
Depeche Mode and Dido have also recorded there.
- The bulk of the Album was written by James Reid at a secluded
house in the Waitakare Hills, West of Auckland, in the Winter
of 1999. Other songs were written in Melbourne, Bali, Thailand
and Europe in 2000.
More than 50 songs were written in total for the new album, and
over 90 demos were recorded.
- Communicate was produced by Gill Norton. He is regarded as one
of the top 10 producers in the world, and is very picky about
what he chooses to do. In the past, he has produced albums for
the Counting Crows, Foo Fighters, Pixies, Feeder, Echo And The
Bunnymen, and Patti Smith.
- Communicate was recorded my Daton Supple. In the past he has
recorded albums for Seal, Morrissey, Bush, The Cure, U2, and Suede.
- Communicate was mixed by Chris Sheldon. In the past he has mixed
albums for Radiohead and Foo Fighters.
- Communicate was mastered by the world's top mastering engineer,
Bob Ludwig, in Portland, Maine. The final mix was completed in
LA. In the past he has mastered albums for Bob Marley, Nirvana,
Radiohead, and Pearl Jam.
- Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters is a big fan of the Communicate
Album, as are the members of Coldplay.
